Summer means festival season, and summers in London, Ontario mean that Sunfest comes to Victoria Park. For as far back as I can remember, Sunfest has been London’s biggest, loudest, most popular festival that people flock to from all over the world. We’re lucky to live nearby and when the announcement has been made that SunFest has began, we always make an effort to go.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with SunFest, it is a 4-day festival in the heart of London’s downtown core. SunFest brings with it delicious and authentic food venues showcasing their finest cuisines from cultures around the world, beautiful handmade jewelry and clothing from locals and visitors, unique artwork for sale, and music from so many different cities and countries that there is something enjoyable for everyone.
This year, we managed to face the crowds and visit London’s SunFest on a Sunday afternoon. Parking, as always, is a nightmare, but once we found a spot, we made our way to the entrance of the park. Pro tip: if you’re able, take public transit, bike, or walk to SunFest, as parking is over priced and minimal over this weekend.
Having attended SunFest almost every year for as long as we can remember, we knew that grabbing some food was definitely a must. It’s always a difficult decision because the food vendors are ah-MAAAZ-ing, but we eventually decided on some delicious Lebanese shish taouk and kibbe.
After indulging, we made our way around the park and checked out some fantastic vendors, and enjoyed some live music, but not before finishing the evening with some delicious, fresh gelato from the M & R Orchards food truck!
London, Ontario’s annual SunFest is typically the first weekend of July (following Canada Day) and is a free, fun, family-friendly event for all. If you’re ever in town when it comes through, we would definitely recommend that you check it out – it’s an event that you don’t want to miss!!
